More Than $1.17 Million in State Funding Allocated to District 63, Says Bashline

HARRISBURG –Rep. Josh Bashline (R-Clarion/Armstrong) announced more than $1.17 million in state funding is heading to District 63 to assist with three local improvement projects.

“True progress is measured not by statistics alone, but by how effectively our actions improve the everyday quality of life for the people we serve,” said Bashline. “This news aligns with this mission, and our district will benefit in the long term.”

Ashland Township is obtaining more than $676,600 from the Department of Community and Economic Development’s (DCED) Multimodal Transportation Fund (MTF) for roadway improvements on Camp Coffman Road. Just over $279,000 from the MTF is being allocated Armstrong County to repave roads throughout Ford City, Manorville Borough, Hovey Township, Sugarcreek Township, Kittanning Township and West Kittanning Township.

Eastern Armstrong County Municipal Authority is receiving just over $219,000 from the Commonwealth Financing Authority’s (CFA) Pennsylvania Small Water and Sewer Program, to replace aging pumps at the treatment plant on Old Elderton Hill Road and at the pump station on Westview Terrace Road. A waterline at the storage tank on Shadyside Farm Drive will be relocated, eliminating the need for an air release valve that is prone to failure. Additionally, this project will require the addition of five fire hydrants and five valves.

The Pennsylvania Small Water and Sewer Program awards grants to municipalities and municipal authorities for water, sewer, storm water and flood control projects with a cost of not less than $30,000 and not more than $500,000. Funds may be used toward construction, improvement, expansion or rehabilitation or repair of a water supply system, sanitary sewer system, storm sewer system or flood control projects.

The MTF provides grants to encourage economic development and ensure that a safe and reliable system of transportation is available to the residents of the Commonwealth. Funds may be used for the development, rehabilitation and enhancement of transportation assets to existing communities, streetscape, lighting, sidewalk enhancement, pedestrian safety, connectivity of transportation assets and transit-oriented development.
