Local School Districts Awarded $475,000 in State Grant Funding
April 30, 2025
HARRISBURG – Rep. Josh Bashline (R-Clarion/Armstrong) announced two school districts are receiving a combined $475,000 in grant funding from the Pennsylvania Department of Education’s PAsmart Advancing Grants for Career and Technical Education (CTE) program. It is designed to expand access to computer science and science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education across the Commonwealth.
“Career and technical education and STEM education serve a vital role in developing people to become skilled to address today’s needs,” said Bashline. “I’m grateful to see this funding allocated to the 63rd Legislative District to continue the positive momentum.”
Allegheny-Clarion Valley School District’s $400,000 award will go toward assisting the school district’s efforts to expand access to CTE computer science and STEM experiences for both students and adults.
The remaining $75,000 allocation is heading to Armstrong School District. The money will support collaboration between schools and a local or regional CTE provider or will help communities design and plan local and/or regional approaches to expanding CTE education in STEM and computer science.
“It’s an honor to represent Armstrong School District alongside Rep. Abby Major (R-Armstrong/Westmoreland) and advocate for critical funding to support our local economy and family-sustaining jobs,” said Bashline.
“Not every student will attend post-secondary education, and career and technical education gives young people additional opportunities,” Major said. “With the focus on STEM and computer science through this grant, students are prepared for employment after graduation in areas of need. I am pleased Armstrong School District received these funds.”
This funding is part of the $10.35 million allocated to 55 organizations across 29 counties.
